Perform
OrderManager Applications
In The Field
SpaceWorks
OrderManager provides an offline option that lets your field reps
access your OrderManager based sales channel whenever an Internet
connection is unavailable. It delivers the in-the-field flexibility
that your sales reps need to perform a number of OrderManager functions
when they are on client calls or traveling.
Full
Synchronization With Your Back-End
The
OrderManager information your sales rep enters offline is maintained
in a local database on their laptop. Once a day, or whenever necessary,
your rep can synchronize their local database with the OrderManager
server over the Internet. Because OrderManager's server database
is updated with current information from your back-end system, there
is a consistent flow of up-to-date, synchronized information between
Offline OrderManager installs and your back-end.
Wide
Range of Stand-Alone Options
OrderManager's
offline access is the next best thing to accessing your live site,
making it an excellent laptop tool for your reps. Without worrying
if an Internet connection is available in
a client's office or on the road your sales reps can perform
all types OrderManager applications, including:
- Create
or edit orders
- Submit
orders (orders are automatically placed in an outbound queue for
upload later)
- Create
order templates
- View
order status
- Check
inventory availability
- Get
account information
- Access
product and pricing information
When
ready, your rep can connect to the Internet and initiate replication
with your OrderManager site. Offline OrderManager notifies the user
when it has finished replicating the data and creates a transaction
log to record successful transmissions and any errors. Users will
also receive an alert when they logon if they've missed any required
replications, this ensures that your reps can't inadvertently use
old data.

Capabilities

XML Replication
The
data exchange between the OrderManager server and Offline OrderManager
is based on a set of XML transactions over the Internet using the
HTTP or HTTPS (Secure Socket Layer) protocol. XML enables replication,
which allows the user to synchronize data between the OrderManager
database on the server and OfflineManager on his or her laptop.
Replication synchronizes the following data between the server and
the user's laptop:
1.Catalog
2. User Info (including Accounts, Privileges, Preferences, Features)
3.Order Status
4.Inventory Availability
An open XML transaction server architecture ensures easy integration
with other XML standards. It also allows for third party XML server
plug-ins.
