Pratt & Whitney Joins Spaceworks
By Demir Barlas, Line56
B2B sell-side specialist SpaceWorks has landed Pratt & Whitney, a manufacturer and seller of aircraft engines, space propulsion systems, and turbine engines. .
Pratt & Whitney's catalog of products and services will now be available to its customers (domestic and international airlines, as well as the U.S. military) through SpaceWorks' Web-based OrderManager solution. OrderManager provides real-time functionalities for order placement, tracking, inventory look-up, account status, and shipping updates. OrderManager will integrate with Pratt & Whitney's legacy system.
Pratt & Whitney has also agreed to use two customization solutions from SpaceWorks Marketing Manager, which targets advertising and promotions to customers based on established buying habits and specified interests, and Report Manager, which analyzes customer buying activity.
David Brantner, Pratt & Whitney's director of e-Business, praised SpaceWorks for its 'expertise in B2B, coupled with aircraft industry knowledge.'
Pratt & Whitney is SpaceWorks' second engine manufacturing customer so far this year, with sector leader GE Aircraft Engines (GEAE) signing on in February. Airlines have been using OrderManager to place orders from GEAE's catalog of 250,000+ engine parts. SpaceWorks has created an environment to make it easy for companies to electrify their order management process and put it on the Web, says Seybold Group analyst Geoffrey Bock.
SpaceWorks President and CEO Dave MacSwain said Our center of gravity is complex order management. We beat out twelve vendors for GE, and [our selection by] Pratt & Whitney is further validation.
