For Immediate Release:
SpaceWorks Announces First e-Marketplace Client: MedCenterDirect.com
Rockville, MD -- May 9, 2000 -- SpaceWorks, Inc. ®, the leading business-to- business sell-side Web commerce software company, today announced its first client in the rapidly growing e-Marketplace sector. MedCenterDirect.com, a newly launched B2B medical e-Marketplace, has licensed SpaceWorks OrderManager ® as the e-Commerce engine for its Web-based medical products distribution channel and SpaceWorks IntegrationManager to facilitate real-time links to its back-end system. SpaceWorks rapidly launched the MedCenterDirect e-Marketplace, with an implementation time of sixty days. SpaceWorks also plans to offer other companion modules in the SpaceWorks Web BusinessManager Suite, including ServiceManager, AuctionManager and MarketingManager. These applications will expand the functionality of the MedCenterDirect OrderManager implementation by adding more features and capabilities to the site.
Using SpaceWorks OrderManager, a customer can provide Authorized buyers with the ability to buy products over the Web on a 24x7 basis. Using a browser, these business users can view information from a comprehensive database of products, place real-time orders, check up-to- the-minute inventory availability, track immediate order status, and verify shipments around the clock.
The SpaceWorks IntegrationManager application provides seamless, XML-based links to the back- end system where the key product and account databases are stored. IntegrationManager also will create transparent connections to buyers' own internal purchasing systems, so orders do not need re-keying.
With SpaceWorks ServiceManager, buyers will be able to use e-mail, chat sessions and voice over the Web to seek customer service. Such users also will be able to answer their own questions about products through a comprehensive, self-help database. SpaceWorks AuctionManager will give buyers the ability to bid for selected products in a user-friendly auction environment, participating in dynamic, user-driven pricing. Finally, MarketingManager will empower MedCenterDirect to deploy tailored B2B marketing tactics ranging from customer- specific promotions to broader up-selling and cross-selling - to ensure a truly unique buying experience that simultaneously drives increased sales.
"B2B e-Marketplaces such as MedCenterDirect can easily gain competitive advantage through our industrial-strength Web BusinessManager Suite," said SpaceWorks President and CEO, Dave MacSwain. "Our complete solution transforms a broad range of business-to-business activities into the Web environment, beginning with promoting products to taking orders to supporting the customer afterwards. Upon deployment of the central application, OrderManager, the companion modules can be deployed in any sequence, allowing our clients to incrementally increase the functionality, and thereby the effectiveness and value, of their e-Commerce solution."
