GE Aircraft Engines Selects SpaceWorks For B2B e-Commerce System

ROCKVILLE, MD -- February 10, 2000 -- SpaceWorks, Inc.®, the leading business-to-business sell-side Web commerce software company, today announced that GE Aircraft Engines (GEAE) - a $10 billion global leader in aircraft engine manufacturing - has selected SpaceWorks to provide mission-critical, business-to-business e-Commerce capabilities.

The world's leading international and domestic airlines, in addition to key military branches, will use SpaceWorks OrderManager® application to place orders 24x7 from GEAE's catalog of more than 250,000 engine parts. Other real- time activities include the ability to research inventory availability, verify order and shipping status and check account information. The system, launched earlier this month, is presently used by several of GE's large commercial customers, and will be rolled out to additional leading airlines and military offices throughout the year.

OrderManager is linked to an Oracle back-end system, where multiple catalogs store volumes of information ranging from hundreds of thousands of product codes, to individual customer account and billing information, as well as shipping data.

"SpaceWorks has provided GEAE with an important business-to-business e- commerce technology for the new millennium," according to John Rosenfeld, e.Commerce Leader, GE Aircraft Engines. "SpaceWorks came through with a rapid implementation, delivering the fully-tested, fully-operational system in only 53 days. We couldn't have imagined it being more successful."

"Our number one goal is to help brick-and-mortar manufacturers rapidly launch a business-to-business Web sales channel, complete with links to back-end systems, that can support a large community of business customers," commented SpaceWorks President and CEO, Dave MacSwain. "With GE Aircraft as a new customer, SpaceWorks further demonstrates to the market its position as the business-to-business e-Commerce software provider of choice for the Global 2000."
