For Immediate Release:
Diebold and SpaceWorks Announce Licensing Of The SpaceWorks Web BusinessManager Suite As A B2B Solution
Rockville, MD and North Canton, OH -- December 7, 2000 -- Diebold, Incorporated, the nation’s leading manufacturer of automated teller machines (ATMs), software and services, along with SpaceWorks, Inc., a leading business-to-business sell-side Web commerce software company, have announced the licensing of the SpaceWorks Web BusinessManager Suite to establish an industrial- strength B2B solution for Diebold.
SpaceWorks Web BusinessManager Suite will provide Diebold with numerous, real-time Web-based transactional capabilities including order placement, order tracking, inventory look-up, account status, product returns and shipping updates. This will be made possible through seamless integration of the Suite to Diebold’s existing enterprise resource planning system.
The SpaceWorks Suite will also enable Diebold to provide its sales force with convenient offline access. With connectivity, users get real-time, 24x7 views of specific types of order management functions. The offline option will enable the sales force to perform a wide range of ordering-related tasks from their laptops without requiring an Internet connection. Then, when Diebold salespeople reconnect to the Web, all the information is automatically updated and new orders uploaded.
In addition to these complex-ordering capabilities, Diebold will be able provide interactive selling features in future e-commerce initiatives through the SpaceWorks Suite. Such capability will enable buyers to configure and purchase the best product for their needs. The SpaceWorks application acts as a virtual sales representative, guiding the buyer via a simple, interactive questionnaire. Upon completion of the questionnaire, the application uses the buyer’s responses to recommend, and even configure, the purchasing solution that best meets their needs.
“Diebold selected SpaceWorks because of the comprehensive functionality of the Web BusinessManager Suite and for their established track record in deploying industrial-strength B2B solutions with mission-critical transaction capability,” said Chuck Bechtel, group vice president and chief information officer at Diebold. “SpaceWorks’ B2B solution enables us to quickly launch our e-commerce strategy with critical complex ordering capabilities and interactive guided selling features while enabling us to expand our e-commerce site over time with the addition of marketing, billing and other business processes through the modular approach of the Suite.”
This is one of the many tools Diebold is leveraging to improve productivity and achieve creative, technology-enabled relationships with customers. Resources such as the SpaceWorks Suite will improve productivity and quicken internal processes, providing unmatched services for Diebold customers.
“The Diebold selection of the SpaceWorks Web BusinessManager Suite further identifies SpaceWorks as the B2B e-commerce solution of choice for Global 2000 enterprises and e-marketplaces,” said SpaceWorks President and CEO Dave MacSwain. “We are pleased that Diebold chose SpaceWorks over other alternatives to establish this critical revenue-driving initiative over the Web.”
