SpaceWorks Expands Functionality of the Web BusinessManager Suite with Release Of Version 5.1

Rockville, MD -- November 15, 2000 -- SpaceWorks, Inc. ®, a leading business-to-business sell-side Web commerce software company, today announced the commercial availability of the SpaceWorks Web BusinessManager Suite 5.1. In this latest version, a new application module delivering online bill presentment, consolidation and payment is integrated to the Suite and expanded functionality is added to other existing Suite components.

Global 2000 companies will now be able to deploy the SpaceWorks Suite to present a single, consolidated bill or statement for multiple purchases made at different times to their business customers over the Web. Then, from their desktops, these business buyers will also be able to access, analyze and pay their invoices over the Web. Further, they will be able to display and view their purchase history and perform invoice-to-order reconciliation. These Web-based billing capabilities are delivered through the BillingManager application in the Suite.

Additional customer service capabilities have been added to the Suite to allow live interaction with customer service through text chat as well as through live voice over IP.

Supplementary functionality has been added to the complex order management backbone of the Suite to allow for wireless access to specific order-related activities through a hand-held device and offline access provides use of the features and functions without requiring a Web connection. The new offline access option empowers business buyers to perform a wide range of ordering tasks from their laptops even when they’re unable to connect to the Internet. The next time these business buyers connect to the Web, all their local information is automatically updated and new orders are uploaded.

Further new functionality will now enable business buyers to return products via the Web. By submitting an electronic return request, buyers can receive an online return authorization and arrange to have their products shipped back from their desktop.

“Each new release of the SpaceWorks Web BusinessManager Suite further transforms the way Global 2000 companies interact with their business customers, streamlining more and more business processes to capitalize on the self-service nature of the Web,” said Dave MacSwain, President and CEO. “By consolidating and presenting billing data over the Web, both sellers and buyers can experience increased efficiency and ease of doing business. By offering wireless access to an e- Commerce site, or offline capabilities to business buyers, manufacturers can leverage the convenience of doing business as a competitive edge.”

The release earlier this year of Web BusinessManager Suite 5.0 includes modular applications that enable companies to facilitate B2B Web-based complex ordering transactions, create targeted marketing programs and online promotions through customer-specific profiles, conduct detailed analyses and reports on the buying patterns of business customers, perform Web-based customer service and facilitate XML-based integration to external buyer networks or e-Marketplaces. These modular applications can be deployed in any sequence, at any time, allowing SpaceWorks clients to easily evolve their e-Commerce strategy over time with assurance that new capabilities interoperate with those already in place.
