SpaceWorks Wins First Place in B2B Best Practice Awards

eWeek and Technology Forum Award SpaceWorks in B2B E-commerce Applications Category

New York, NY -- October 24, 2000 -- SpaceWorks, Inc, a leading business-to-business sell-side Web commerce software company, today announced that it has won first place in the “Best Practices in B2B” awards competition sponsored by eWeek Magazine and the Technology Managers Forum. The award is based on the highly successful implementation of the SpaceWorks B2B OrderManager application for G.E. Aircraft Engines, the world's leading manufacturer of military and commercial aircraft jet engines. SpaceWorks, in a joint case study submission with G.E. Aircraft Engines and Enigma, a leading provider of B2B content solutions for capital equipment manufacturers, won first place in the B2B E-commerce Applications category. This category is new to the awards competition this year, making SpaceWorks, G.E. Aircraft Engines and Enigma the first-ever winners. In total, there were eight award categories and nearly one hundred submissions.

“SpaceWorks sets a new standard for B2B excellence with their industrial- strength solution,” said Stan Gibson, Executive Editor of eWeek. “The judges selection of SpaceWorks as the first-place winner for the GE Aircraft Engines B2B implementation affirms the value of their application solution in delivering real world results.”

The SpaceWorks OrderManager application, the foundation of the Web BusinessManager Suite, automates all of the mission-critical activities involved in selling products over the Web, including 24x7 real-time order submission and tracking, immediate inventory checking and up-to-the-minute account profile histories. SpaceWorks implemented this Web-based B2B selling solution for GEAE in a record fifty-three days. As part of the implementation, SpaceWorks integrated the solution with the Enigma product set which provides the illustrated parts catalog, service manuals and associated technical information. Since the launch of this SpaceWorks B2B solution in January, GE Aircraft Engines has been conducting Web business with its customers and projects over $1 billion in revenue to be generated by year-end.

“SpaceWorks is extremely delighted that eWeek and the Technology Managers Forum have chosen us as the number one B2B solution for e-Commerce,” said Dave MacSwain, President and CEO, SpaceWorks. “SpaceWorks Web BusinessManager Suite is becoming the B2B e-Commerce solution of choice for Global 2000 enterprises and our selection by the judges underscores our expertise in this arena. This award is indicative of the real-world success that our clients see in using our B2B application suite to drive business using the Internet.”

The Best Practices Awards are an annual program sponsored by eWeek Magazine and the Technology Managers Forum, a professional association for IT Managers from Fortune 1000 companies. The awards program recognizes quality achievements in technology management that provide a competitive advantage to business. The term "Best Practice" denotes a standard of excellence that has been achieved within an organization and refers to a process that can be quantified, adapted, and repeated. In order to be eligible for consideration, projects must have had an impact on at least 200 users and have been implemented in organizations with a minimum of $300 million in gross annual revenue.

The Best Practice Awards will be presented on October 24, 2000, at Technology Managers Forum’s seventh annual fall conference, Enterprise E-Business 2000 in New York, New York.
