SpaceWorks Announces CertainTeed Licenses Web BusinessManager Suite for Business-to-Business Web Commerce

ROCKVILLE, MD and VALLEY FORGE, PA  -- September 13, 2000 -- SpaceWorks, Inc.®, a leading business-to-business (B2B) Web commerce software company, today announced that CertainTeed Corporation, a leading North American manufacturer of building materials, has licensed SpaceWorks OrderManager® to establish an Internet-based sales channel linking CertainTeed's seven manufacturing divisions with the company's over 6,000 customers. CertainTeed is a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain (France) - one of the top 100 industrial companies in the world.

With OrderManager, the foundation of SpaceWorks Web BusinessManager Suite, CertainTeed's business customers, including leading building materials suppliers, can place real-time orders over the Internet, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for the more than 30,000 building products the company manufactures. These include roofing, vinyl and fibercement siding, vinyl windows, ventilation products, fiber glass insulation, and vinyl fence, deck and railing products. Customers also will be able to get up-to-the-minute updates on order status, inventory availability, invoices and shipment tracking.

"When we decided to create a way for our customers to order from us online, we looked for a vendor with a proven technology expertise and an implementation track record in electronic business-to-business commerce," says Rose Lee, CertainTeed's Executive Director of E-Business. "After an extensive evaluation, SpaceWorks emerged as the leader with a comprehensive program that will make doing business electronically with CertainTeed easy for our business customers."

Showcasing SpaceWorks B2B integration expertise, OrderManager will be linked to seven separate back-end systems at CertainTeed - each with unique product families, pricing information, catalog data and account structures. Links to these systems will give CertainTeed's sales representatives and business customers the ability to view and make use of product and account-related data over the Web in real-time, enabling a self-service, highly efficient sales channel.

"The addition of CertainTeed to our growing roster of Global 2000 enterprises reaffirms the importance of our domain expertise in both B2B and e-Commerce in the vendor selection process," according to SpaceWorks President and CEO, Dave MacSwain. "We are pleased that CertainTeed chose SpaceWorks over other alternatives to establish this critical revenue-driving initiative over the Web."
