Somera Communications Selects SpaceWorks for E-Commerce Initiative
Will Deploy OrderManager® B2B Software Solution
SANTA BARBARA, CA and ROCKVILLE, MD -- September 6, 2000 -- Somera Communications (Nasdaq: SMRA), a leading provider of telecommunications
equipment and service solutions, and SpaceWorks, Inc, a leading business-to-
business sell-side Web commerce software company, today announced that Somera
has licensed SpaceWorks OrderManager® to support the company's global Web-
based business-to-business implementation.
Under the terms of the licensing agreement, Somera will deploy the
OrderManager solution to conduct Web commerce with telecommunications carriers
worldwide. Somera is currently beta testing its B2B e-commerce initiative and
is expected to launch during Q4. The B2B site is designed to enhance customer
support and enable accounts to conduct business over the Web by viewing
products and information , ordering equipment, and monitoring the status of
transactions. The site will also include an on-line auction. SpaceWorks
OrderManager will support the order and transactional component of Somera's
B2B strategy.

SpaceWorks OrderManager, the flagship application that serves as the core of
SpaceWorks Web BusinessManager Suite, provides numerous, real-time Web-based
transactional capabilities including order placement, order tracking,
inventory look-up, account status and shipping updates. OrderManager will be
seamlessly integrated to Somera's ERP system, JD Edwards, which houses real-
time inventory data, list pricing, and customer account information. This
integration will also give customers real-time access to Somera's catalog of
30,000 items including wireless, switching, transmission, and data networking
equipment.
