SpaceWorks IntegrationManager Gains XML Strength Through webMethods Alliance

ROCKVILLE, MD and FAIRFAX, VA -- April 13, 2000 -- SpaceWorks, Inc.®, the leading business-to-business sell-side Web commerce software company today announced a technology alliance with webMethods, Inc. (Nasdaq:WEBM), the leading provider of XML business-to-business integration (B2Bi) solutions. Through this alliance, SpaceWorks will utilize webMethods B2B™, an open software solution that supports a number of industry standards and protocols including XML, RosettaNet, OAGIS, cXML and OBI among others, as the central integration component for SpaceWorks IntegrationManager. A key companion to SpaceWorks flagship OrderManager® application which is the core of the Web BusinessManager Suite™, IntegrationManager enables fast and seamless integration of the Suite across the enterprise, to back-end systems and with e-marketplaces and trading networks.

Leveraging webMethods B2B, SpaceWorks can now offer its clients a B2Bi solution that supports all open standards and protocols of the Internet. SpaceWorks clients can become suppliers on e-marketplaces and buy-side networks, and their business customers can place orders from various entry points on the Internet, and be assured of order integrity. This means that the customer may choose to order directly from the seller via the OrderManager system, via an e-marketplace or through a buy-side network, with the assurance that the order will be automatically and accurately routed to the seller's internal system. In addition, orders placed in the seller's OrderManager system can be automatically routed to the buyer's own purchasing system. IntegrationManager achieves this through rapid, seamless links from the SpaceWorks OrderManager application to various other systems including internal purchasing systems, e-marketplaces and buy-side networks.

Through webMethods B2B, IntegrationManager also enables SpaceWorks clients to quickly and efficiently link OrderManager to Global 2000 clients' back-end legacy and ERP environments. This integration provides real-time access to key information including inventory availability, pricing, account data and order status.

"SpaceWorks is a leader in the B2B applications marketplace, and we are pleased to work with them," said Phillip Merrick, president and CEO of webMethods, Inc. "Through our alliance, SpaceWorks' Global 2000 clients will realize significant cost and time savings by seamlessly connecting their partners in dynamic trading exchanges."

"With XML-powered integration capabilities, SpaceWorks IntegrationManager significantly expands SpaceWorks ability to provide our clients with fast, seamless links to external e-Commerce systems, including trading exchanges - a key differentiator in today's rapidly evolving marketplace," according to SpaceWorks President and CEO, Dave MacSwain. "With webMethods as our partner, we can offer a truly ubiquitous B2B e-Commerce experience."
