I-commerce vendors dribble out new wares
By Torsten

This week's
Internet Commerce Expo (ICE) lacked blockbuster product announcements,
but a few vendors showed off new applications and services packages.
The following
is a sampling of new products revealed at the show held in Los Angeles
this week:
SpaceWorks
showed off Version 4.0 of its OrderManager software. Due out in
the fourth quarter of this year, the software is now being offered
in a new modular design, allowing users to incrementally phase in
functions over time. For example, a company using OrderManager's
Web-based product selling functions can at a later date "un-lock"
the purchasing features of the product after paying a licensing
fee, without having to set up a separate system, the company said.
In addition,
a new optional module enables the system to accommodate product
catalogs by multiple vendors -- the previous version handled only
a single vendor's catalog -- allowing buyers to build a consolidated
order form from disparate sources. Upon electronic submission of
the order, the individual line items are automatically directed
to appropriate suppliers for processing, using either direct gateways
or existing EDI systems.
OrderManager
4.0 now permits orders to be routed for approval to an unlimited
number of individuals. The software also includes an optional enhanced
product configurator and offers a second, standard user interface
template. Pricing information was not available. Based in Rockville,
Md., the company can be reached at www.spaceworks.com.
