Commerce Formula Fills Goodrich's Need For Speed
By Cheryl
Rosen
With $4 million
and a resolve to burn rubber, BFGoodrich Performance Materials is
teaming with E-commerce product vendor SpaceWorks Inc. and its systems-integration
partner PricewaterhouseCoopers to launch an E-commerce site.
Performance
Materials, the specialty-chemicals business of the BFGoodrich Co.,
chose the SpaceWorks-PricewaterhouseCoopers team for its ability
to deliver a working site within 60 days of receiving the final
requirements. The site is due to start beta testing in October.
Users will
be able to order specialty chemicals and track orders and accounts
in real time. The site will target Performance Materials' best customers
at first; plans call for opening it to a wider audience down the
road. Says Todd Nelson, Performance Materials director of global
IT, "We looked at building a site ourselves, and at several other
vendors, but we wanted to get our feet wet quickly and gain an understanding
of what we'll face as we move into electronic commerce."
